This gallery shows how the Meade ETX90 can be disassembled and put on
an ordinary tripod for use as a spotting scope. This is particularly useful
here up north (Sweden) where the off-season for astronomical observations is
quite long during the summer (about from april to september).
By removing four torx screws you have transformed the astronomical ETX90 to
the spotting (land observation) scope version. It is simple and fast.
The Minolta D7 was confirmed to be useless mounted on the scope, the lens
is large and it cannot get as close as needed (remember the eyepiece eye relief
distances are very short). With not close enough I mean the glass of the D7 lens
is touching the eye piece and it still isnīt close enough...
The D7 vignettes so heavily that the useable
resolution is very low, I didnīt even bother measuring it.
The Nikon Coolpix 990 has a small lens and able to focus very close, it is
very well suited for eyepiece photography on both telescopes as well as
microscopes.
